Like every bride I wanted my wedding day to be perfect. The key to making it perfect for me, was ensuring all of our friends and family could be there. Who asks their guests to spend two days in the middle of nowhere, at a place with a name like WALCOTT HALL, at about £9000 per night?? Come on, is that really ‘you’? I wanted to make it as easy for our guests as possible, and comfortable, and still have a beautiful setting, and with The Dancing Man I got exactly that.
We were sold the minute we first walked up the spiral staircase (pictured) and let me tell you, you won’t get better wedding pics than your guests filing up those stairs. The rustic feel inside makes it feel like a classy barn wedding, without having to actually go and be in a cold barn. We didn’t want anything too formal and stuffy, like what I imagine Walcott hall to be. We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and in their comfort zone, and as a bride, I needed to be able to pop in whenever I needed in the run up to the big day: which is a million times easier because of its central location.
Located in the middle of Southampton, near all the hotels; Novotel, Hilton, Ibis and De Vere meant that every single guest was able to RSVP yes. Because it’s so convenient!
The team were so flexible, which allowed us to add all the personal touches we wanted. Mandy, Vic and the team will go above and beyond to make any vision you have come true, from fairy lights to flowers to fancy artwork on the chalkboards. The Dancing Man team are super friendly, efficient, really well trained, and not a single one of our guests had a poor experience. I’m not exaggerating when I say that we’re still getting messages from people complimenting the venue, service, food and asking whether they do birthdays etc….which they do!
Food wise we went with a buffet, but sit down meals were offered to us. It was served on time, the food was impeccable and there was plenty to go round. It’s not your standard wedding ‘meat and two veg’ but we didn’t want a standard wedding…we wanted something people were going to remember and boy did this place deliver!
And then, as the name suggests, we DANCED! We had plenty of room for a dance off, but not so much room that it ever looked bare. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone who is thinking about booking it for their special day. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts and we are proud to say we are now fully fledged Dancing Man regulars!
